Reed Indecision

I really dug these reeds against this home on Abbot Kinney. The texture of the building is so unique as you can see the underlying structure in the stucco. But, I can't decide what I like best: the reeds themselves against this odd building or the intersection of the paint-splattered sidewalk, the reeds, and the white stucco backdrop, or the two images stacked.

Another Foggy Beach in Winter

This foggy winter's day in L.A., I explored Marina del Rey beach. I spent most of my time staring at the ocean and taking stills for an animated piece, but I also captured some odds and ends, shown below.

Long Grass

I was cruising through my archives, when I stumbled upon this image of overgrown grass from Maine. The grass acts like either a curtain, masking the view, or, as I like to see it, like a hiding spot to jump into.

Playa Beach in Winter Fog

During this shoot last week, Jess and I had fun exploring Playa with our cameras. We ran to the beach when we saw the early morning fog and caught the end of it by the water.
Since I moved to L.A., I've become (more) obsessed with beaches. I try to re-experience the east coast shores through the west coast sand.
Unfortunately, Nikon recently updated my camera software and I'm having issues with the camera-generated jpg quality (visible in the highlights). If anyone else has had a similar experience, please drop me a line. I hope it's not time to take my camera back to Nikon...

Christmas Day Decoys at TCC

Walking was a big theme for me this Christmas. It was so cold and gray for most of my visit back east (which was such a major contrast to L.A. weather) so I forced myself to walk off the urge to hibernate. I will also make any excuse to wander and explore with my camera. On Christmas day, the sun came out and although this image may appear "warmer" than some of my icier looking posts of Boston, the temperature on this walk was a mere 15 degrees fahrenheit. I was compelled by the broken orange decoys on The Country Club golf course, muddying this organization's pride and joy. I'm also a sucker for bold, contrasting colors, like the orange clay that invades the vast green grass comprising the rough. My parent's dog, Penny, dawned her red winter coat, adding an extra punch to the colors driving this image. It was a bright day indeed.
